Location Creetown has two small pleasant inn / restaurants (One made famous by the cult film "The Wicker Man") a post office and the invaluable "corner shop". Newton Stewart is approximately 8 miles away and has a large selection of restaurants, shops and a very modern cinema. Wigtown "Scotlands Book Town" is just across the river and Whithorn "the cradle of Scotlands Christianity" is 25 miles travel. Dumfries the main town of our area is 40 miles away. The main Irish ferry ports of Stranraer and Cairnryan are also 40 miles distant. Our area has an abundance of fine safe beaches and a rich varied landscape of mountains and forests that is peaceful yet busy in our own country way. It is said of Dumfries and Galloway that it is "Scotland's best kept holiday secret" you will find that one visit is not enough and you will want to come back time and time again. |
